The Regional Dance Center of Eastern Finland is accepting applications for one dance production, for which we will organize an additional run of performances in the Eastern Finland region.
The purpose of the guest performance call is to extend the lifespan of a dance performance and attract new audiences in a city in Eastern Finland. In line with ITAK’s strategy, the purpose of the guest performance call is to strengthen the availability of professional dance in the Eastern Finland region and to support the working conditions of local dance artists.
In 2027, the guest performance will be produced in Mikkeli on May 14–15, 2027.
Application criteria
A working group may apply for the touring performance call if it includes at least one dance artist who lives and/or works in the region of the Regional Dance Center of Eastern Finland OR a working group with a work that has premiered in the region of the Regional Dance Center of Eastern Finland (North Karelia, South Savo, North Savo).
In the selection process, the work’s portability and adaptability to various performance venues (e.g., in terms of scenography, technology, and choreography) will be considered an advantage. The application process evaluates the originality of the concept, the clarity of the artistic vision, and the work’s ability to resonate with today’s audiences who have no prior experience with contemporary dance. In addition, the call will consider how technically and logistically feasible it is to realize the guest performance using ITAK’s technical facilities and personnel.
We hope to receive proposals drawing from diverse contemporary dance practices. We do not prioritize any specific aesthetic in the selection process. You may also apply with a work that your group has previously submitted to ITAK’s repertoire in past open calls.
Support and Funding
The touring group (1–5 people) will be paid:
- compensation for two days of warm-up rehearsals in the rehearsal space
- compensation for one day of rehearsals in the new performance space
- performance compensation for 2–3 performances, including an audience discussion following one performance
- travel and accommodation expenses to the performance location.
In addition, ITAK will arrange a rehearsal space for the production’s touring troupe for two days of rehearsals in a separate rehearsal space in a location suitable for the troupe.
