For professionals

The Regional Dance Center of Eastern Finland serves as a voice for dance professionals in regional and national networks and provides dance artists with work opportunities and production support.

We offer support to professional dancers in our region in the following ways, among others:

ITAK Stage

ITAK manages the ITAK Stage in Kuopio, which is well-suited for contemporary dance. The space can be rented for both rehearsals and performances. For ITAK members, the rental fee for rehearsals is a reasonable €5 per hour, and during the summer, there are often opportunities to use the space at a reduced rate for longer periods of work.

Open calls

Every May, ITAK opens an open call for dance works to be premiered, performed as guest performances, or supported during the early stages of development. In addition, ITAK organizes several targeted calls for applications for other work opportunities each year. Information about open calls is posted on ITAK’s website, in its newsletter, and on social media.

Professional courses and classes

ITAK organizes training sessions, courses, and morning classes for professionals whenever possible. Check out the upcoming course offerings on the "Courses" tab.

Networking events

ITAK regularly organizes low-threshold networking events in its region where you can meet other dance professionals in the area. Check out the upcoming low-threshold networking events on the Events tab.

Job openings

ITAK frequently receives opportunities and job openings for dance instruction, teaching, and performance roles. We share these opportunities with local dance artists through open calls and direct outreach. Currently, ITAK employs local artists for dance instruction and choreography work, including weekly classes with Tavis Dance Company and as facilitators for Tanssipolku workshops in schools and early childhood education settings in Mikkeli and Kuopio. ITAK also acts as an intermediary between dance performance clients and dance artists.

Communications and Promotion of Events

In its communications, ITAK highlights the performances and work of artists in its region whenever possible. If you would like your performance to be included in ITAK’s website performance calendar and newsletter, please submit your performance details in a timely manner to the Dance and Circus Information Center’s performance calendar(opens in new window). ITAK’s communications specialist selects dance performances in the Eastern Finland region from the calendar for ITAK’s website at least once a month.

Billing Partnership

ITAK offers its members an invoicing service that enables freelance artists to bill for their work in the dance field. You can apply for ITAK membership by email, which will also give you access to other member benefits, such as a discounted rental rate for the ITAK stage.
