ITAK is establishing a new contemporary dance group for the Tavis Dance Company in Joensuu. An open call for an instructor for the group is now running. The application period is open from November 2 to November 20, 2026. Registration for the Joensuu Tavis Dance Company will begin in January 2027, and rehearsals will start on February 22, 2027.
Tavis Dance Company is a beloved community and a highlight of everyday life, where ordinary adults come together weekly to practice contemporary dance, physical interaction, and improvisation. The group builds on the participants’ own experiences and engages in guided exercises based on contemporary dance and movement improvisation.
In Tavis sessions, participants get to move alone, in pairs, or with the whole group, discovering different ways to express themselves and interact with others through dance. Everyone who is interested in dance and movement and wants to explore their own dance style and the possibilities of working in a group with an open mind is welcome to join. Each group in Joensuu has a maximum of 15 dancers.
In February 2027, a new group will be launched for Tavis Dance Company in Joensuu. We are now seeking a skilled instructor for the Joensuu Tavis Dance Company who is eager and motivated to work with the group next spring and potentially beyond.
The instructor is expected to have a visionary approach to teaching improvisational contemporary dance to adults, experience in dance instruction or choreography, and the ability to commit to leading the group for the entire rehearsal season. Familiarity with the local community is considered an asset.
Registration for the Joensuu Tavis Dance Company’s training group will open in January 2027.
Duration, Time, and Location of the Work
We are looking for an instructor for the rehearsal period from February 22 to April 26, 2026. Extension of the contract is possible.
The rehearsals will be 1.5 hours once a week, for a total of 8 sessions during the spring season.
The group meets on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Liiketila in Joensuu (HUB Joensuu, Rantakatu 30, 4th floor).
Salary
The salary for teaching is €74.87 per 90 minutes, plus any annual component of a personal bonus. In addition, an hourly rate of €23.92 per 60 minutes is paid for planning and organizational work, totaling 5 hours in the spring. Vacation pay is 9%.

In that case, please specify in your application how the teaching work would be divided between the two of you.
Based on the applications, we will invite some of the applicants to an interview. Notification will be sent to those selected for an interview, as well as to other applicants, no later than November 25, 2026. Interviews will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
