The Kuopio Dance Festival brings to Kuopio a new work by internationally acclaimed choreographer Marcos Morau, which premiered in GöteborgsOperans Danskompani repertoire in February 2026.
Spanish choreographer and multidisciplinary artist Marcos Morau often creates wild, entertaining works infused with absurd humour – and this new creation is no exception. The title Cold song refers to the music, which is based on an aria from Henry Purcell’s opera King Arthur.
In the creation, the dancers take on different characters, while the set consists of a mysterious box that hides all kinds of fantastical contraptions. Both the dancers and the scenography undergo transformations as Cold song carries us across the boundary between reality and theatrical magic. Even before its world premiere, Cold song has been booked by several European touring venues.
